Installing the correct evaporator coil is essential for getting the highest performance and comfort from your central air conditioning or heat pump system. As indoor air passes through the evaporator coil, humidity is removed, which creates ‘cooler’ indoor air. The newer evaporator coils use the environmentally sound puron refrigerant. Puron® is designed not to harm the earth’s ozone layer. Federal law requires that all manufacturers phase out ozone depleting refrigerants in the next few years. Puron refrigerant is approved by the US Environmental Protection Agency as a replacement from Freon R22.
Evaporator coils come in a variety of shapes and sizes, depending on the type of installation, the amount of cooling capacity needed, and the manufacturer.
